Lower Muerztal
Definition:
Well-established name for the Muerztal below the narrowness of Wartberg (breakthrough valley), which, like the Middle Muerztal, is an inner-alpine basin consisting of fluvial and fluvioglacial sediments of the Quaternary period in the actual valley area and of tertiary loose material at the edges, where gentle slope drags and reed beds are situated in front of the neighboring mountain bodies. The Tertiary depression of Parschlug, which reaches back into the Muerztal Alps and is attributed to the basin of the Lower Muerztal, should be emphasized. (Author: Prof. Mag. Dr. Gerhard Karl LIEB)
