Definition:
Well-established name of the basin open to the Liesing valley on the southeastern edge of the Eisenerz Alps. The undulating relief, which contrasts charmingly with the rugged mountain scenery, is occupied by tertiary loose material, especially in the E, but also by fluvioglacial sediments of the Pleistocene with terraces. The boundary is difficult in the S, where Vordernberger and Veitscher Bach leave the basin in breakthrough valleys, and forces the inclusion of (epigenetically isolated) parts of the greywacke zone into the area.
