Definition:
Well-established name for the non-alpine, lower part of the river valley (the upper reaches of the two source rivers have mountain stream character in canyon-like valleys). It is a wide valley area, composed of fluvial and fluvioperiglacial, and to a lesser extent fluvioglacial sediments, which narrows considerably in two places at the southern edge of the Sausal (sections of the breakthrough valley), the valley widening in between could be separated as a sub-area under the name Heimschuher Becken.
