Neumarkter pass landscape
Definition:
Well-established name for the spacious depression between the Upper Mur Valley in the N (there with the Neumarkter, 894 m, and the Perchauer Sattel, 995 m, two lower crossings) and the catchment area of the Drava (Hoerfeldbach into the Goertschitz Valley to SE, Olsa to the Metnitz to SW). The area formed by the Pleistocene debris-flow glacier and filled with glacial and fluvioglacial sediments, with a gentle relief in the center, separates the Gurktaler from the Seetaler Alps in a very distinctive way, but it is difficult to draw a clear line against them.
