Definition:
A little-used term for the train between the Upper Mur Valley and the southern foot of the Schladminger and Woelzer Tauern mountains, which is broken through by several transverse valleys, partly belonging to the Old Crystalline, but in the central part built up from little metamorphic rocks of the Murau Palaeozoic. Low mountain range character prevails, more rugged forms appear only in the limestones of the Pleschaitz and hints of high mountain forms at the highest peak of the area, the Gstoder, 2140 m. The northern boundary follows the widely markedly developed depth line of the Murparalleltal at the edge of the flexur-like southern slope of the Niedere Tauern. (Author: Prof. Mag.
