Gratwein-Gratkorner basin
Definition:
Few established designation, often only ridge-grain basin named. The heart of this basin, which is open in the SW towards the foreland (West Styrian Riedelland), is a valley extension of the Mur, largely occupied by settlement, traffic and industrial areas, with extensive fluvial and fluvioglacial accumulations. The eastern and southwestern part of the basin consists of tertiary loose material and is therefore similar to the reedlands of the foreland. In the SE of Rein, which lies in a lateral, even basin-like valley widening, some geologically associated elevations of the Graz highlands had to be included. (Author: Prof. Mag.
