Definition:
Well-established name for the east wing of the Styrian Randgebirge in the S of the Muerztal, culminating in Stuhleck, 1782 m. The low mountain range, which only in its highest part exceeds the forest line, consists of crystalline rocks, which have a carbonatic character south of the Middle Muerztal and in the outermost E on larger areas. A subdivision of the area is possible along the deep insertions (Eibeggsattel, Auf der Schanz, Alpl-Waldheimat and Pfaffensattel), but was not carried out due to lack of suitable names for the individual parts.
