Ausseer basin
Definition:
Well-established name of the spacious basin at the confluence of the 3 source rivers of the Traun, bordered by the plateau edges and foothills of the Dachstein group and the Tote Gebirge mountain range. The widely undulating morphological appearance of the basin is characterized by erosion and filling-up forms of the Pleistocene glacial periods and, in the glacial clearing troughs of the Altausseer and Grundlsees, clearly reverts to the mountainous body of the Tote Gebirge.
