Aflenzer basin
Definition:
Well-established name for the inner-alpine basin at the southern foot of the Hochschwab group. It contains gentle slopes and reed beds of Tertiary loose rocks as well as partly very thick fluvioglacial sediments of the Pleistocene in the form of terraces. The chosen boundary includes the relatively narrow, but genetically clearly associated valley extension of Etmißl, the rest of the boundary is geologically and morphologically clearly defined.
